Trafford Music Service now has a new Beginners Brass Band. The band is for children who may have recently taken part in a brass Wider Opportunities Project or may now be having lessons following on from a Project. It is being run free of charge as it is being funded by a grant from Arts Council England. Joining the band will give children the opportunity to play in a larger ensemble, to learn new pieces of music and to meet children from other schools.

From January 2009, the Brass Band reheasals will take place on Thursdays at Broomwood Primary School. They will run from 4.00 to 5.00pm and will be taken by Mr Hywel Lewis. A calendar and relevant letters and forms are available to download from the website.

The first rehearsal in the new year is Thursday 8th January. Children will be supplied with an instrument free of charge as long as they are attending the Brass Band, but all the relevant paperwork needs to be completed before they are allowed to take an instrument home.

This is a fantastic opportunity for children in Trafford to improve their skills on a brass instrument so please try to encourage your child to come along.
