Trafford Music Centres have been in existence for more than 30 years. There are currently two main Music Centres, which take place out of school hours:
Urmston Music CentreLocation: Acre Hall Primary School Times: Friday evenings during school term time - 4.30 - 6.30pm Instruments available: guitar, electric guitar, oboe, clarinet, flute, bassoon, cello, doulble bass, viola, violin, percussion, saxophone Cost: £60 per year Hire of instruments: All instruments are available for hire at £15 per term with the exception of guitar *All children will take part in a group lesson and be expected to join an ensemble after the first year. Stretford Music CentreLocation: Seymour Park Primary School Times: Saturday during term time - 9.15 - 12.15 Instruments available: recorder, guitar, electric guitar, oboe, clarinet, flute, bassoon, cello, double bass, viola, violin, percussion, saxophone Cost: £60 per year
Hire of instruments: All instruments are available for hire at £15 per term with the exception of recorder and guitar All children will engage in a morning of activities, including group tuition on their chosen instrument, ensemble, large group rhythmic awareness (including samba and African drumming sessions) and Dalcroze sessions (musical awareness games and activities)
Both Music Centres are now being managed by Helen Sweeney. They are currently running at full capacity with almost 400 pupils accessing music provision.
Each Centre puts on an end of term concert in December and July to showcase the childrens' achievements. To find out more about about how to access music tuition at these Centres please contact the Music Service on 0161 911 8689.
